Vick’s Picks
I haven’t done one of these in a little while so I decided to do a LIKE and DISLIKE editorial about several businesses we have visited recently. Remember, this is just my opinion! And since my mother’s instructions are floating around in my head…those being, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”…the dislike will be quite short!
LIKE: Qdoba! Doesn’t matter which one you go to – they are all great! Especially love their Chicken Gumbo!
DISLIKE: Starbucks at the Summit…so I will say something NICE – the manager DID have the guy that was in a total hurry and tried to short me with the drinks I had ALREADY PAID FOR by giving me talls when we ordered and paid for Grandes…remake the drinks even though she was initially going to support his claims that these were Grande drinks – not tall drinks in a Grande cup…but it was rushed and I hate having to prove I am right. Starbucks on Blankenbaker is way more laid-back and so very friendly and the people that work there are not only nice but they are fun to look at (you need to go there to see what I mean) and ok, I just like it better.
LIKE: Stewart’s Auto Care in Crestwood. Jason, the owner is a totally honest mechanic and that is HARD TO FIND these days! He is honest with his schedule – he will NOT tell you he can fix your car today knowing full well it will be tomorrow or the next day – he will just tell you that he can’t get it in until two days from now… and then he will fix it right the first time and he is totally fair in his pricing. Just recently a larger garage – one of the “name-brand” guys on Bardstown Road told us we needed a new water pump and that it would cost us $649.00. Jason told us we do NOT need a new water pump and that if we DID need a new one, it would only be $180.00 including tax! See what I mean? Honest.
DISLIKE: The Children’s Place clothing store…bought some stuff for Olivia but it wasn’t the right size, brought it back, they have a stringent return policy and even though I had the receipt, they would not give me full price back because I was THREE DAYS past the return date. The nice thing I will say is the poor little sales clerk was nice about it.
LIKE: Woodland Enrichment Co-op. It meets on Fridays at the Woodland Baptist Church and is a sweet place to send your kids. The teachers were really great – friendly, helpful, caring and kind. The class offerings is impressive especially for elementary age kids, the price is affordable and my kids LOVED it! If you want more information, email me because I can give you even more wonderful specifics about it. We do all our regular stuff in 4 days so that when they go on Friday, they are really “enriching”. We will be doing Spanish and sign language there this year as well as several other totally for FUN classes!
That is the end of my like and dislike list for tonight. Oh, one more LIKE: Only three more weeks until my “big kids” are back in America! THAT I DON’T JUST LIKE…I LOVE!
