Magical
Something magical happens when you take the family on an unexpected adventure into a previously unexplored territory and you find the hidden secrets locked away behind the wardrobe door. Okay maybe that is a crazy way of saying any family adventure can turn into great family memories such as...

So Blessed. That’s my “status” tonight on my facebook page. It really is the status of my life though. It’s not just tonight. I posted that because Josh is going to his second prom and he looks so handsome! I feel so blessed that this child of mine that almost didn’t survive his “Life threatening episode” of 16 years ago is not only alive, but he is ABUNDANTLY alive and is going to a prom! But there are so many other reasons to post that I am blessed. I have two children that are not only surviving college, they are...

When Ben and I decided not to stop at just one child – it was a truly inspired decision! I can’t even IMAGINE our lives right now if Zach were gone and that was all we had for kids! I’ll admit, the original family plan was only four…but somehow after the first four it didn’t seem like the family picture was complete so we went on to have the last two bonus kids and WOW am I ever glad we did! Last week was “Camp Feinn” here…the two youngest went to not one, but two VBS programs – one...

5 Day Club and Lessons Learned 5 Day Club on the beach in Hawaii…that was the “brilliant idea” God gave me one day in the shower…not sure why all these “brilliant ideas” come to me FROM GOD in the SHOWER but anyway – as I was praying about a family mission trip one day, the Lord whispered…the poor of Hawaii need to hear about Me. At first I thought we were going to minister to the many homeless families that we have encountered living along the cliffs in the park near the Army base we stay at...

Some of you may not know that Josh took a robotics class at CEC this year. His team won second place for the state, second place for the region and this put them in the top 100 teams out of the 1100 teams to compete so they got to go to the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES in Atlanta! His team was one of 50 teams (there were two 50 team sections) and they placed 21st…not bad considering this was the first year for the high school division! I am so proud of this boy! He amazes me with his quiet spirit and the intelligence that just oozes...

Oh how very hard it is for me right now to lay my two oldest children down on the altar and start to gather fire to kindle under the sacrifice…as Abraham did with Isaac. Both of them will be doing mission-related things this summer…Abbey will be at missionary language school in Costa Rica this summer. Zachery will be a missionary intern in Kenya all summer…satan hisses fears and insults at me as I prepare to be away from them for so long. But then I run to the Lord and tuck myself under His wings and He whispers, “these...

My last post was about my two big kids going off to WKU. I can’t believe it was so long ago that I posted anything! I guess I’ll start with them since they were the topic starter last time. They have had a great year! I, on the other hand, had a rough adjustment. My first two weeks were filled with wadded up tissues and tears at random and unwelcome times. Just THINKING about them sent me into a dripping mess! If it wasn’t for the fact that my good friend, Natalie, was going through the same thing I don’t know what I...

For the amount of time I spend posting about my two oldest children, you would think they are all that live in my nest! It is just that these “firsts” are so hard for me to part with! I am proud of them – both have eyes filled with stars and state that they “want to make a difference for Jesus on the campus of Western Kentucky University”. That will be my prayer for them each day as well…oh it will be a hard adjustment for each of us. But I am filled with such anticipation for how the Lord is going to...
read moreSloshy Mud but it is almost SPRING!
Ok, so we had enough winter in one storm here in KY that we don’t need any more for about – well, a decade, I think! We had about seven extra people her for many days and it was so fun. Then the ICE COLD WEATHER hit and I am so ready for SPRING! The great thing about KY weather is that you get a lot of great days no matter what the season is…so today, after a week of frigid weather, we are melting like crazy and it is about 60 degrees! It is giving me the gardening itch. I’ve been reading several really great books (The...
